Europe Tour with Yamaha X-City - Part11(the end) - MILAN - THESSALONIKI - ISTANBUL

I have a bad news for your today. The weather is cloudy and it is raining. If we had had time, we could give a pause somewhere but we had to be at the port on time. So we get totally wet but caught the ferry.

We actually wanted to visit San Marino but we cancelled it. We were on time...

We were still happy, even if we were wet and tired. The ferry was not so full, that we have reserved good places on the deck to sleep. As we were awake, we have seen the Greek Islands from the deck of the ferry. That was a sign for us that we were completing our trip. We  went directly to Thessaloniki and found our hotel.

After the sightseeing, we have found a cozy taverna for dinner. We found also a friend, a Turkish lady coming from Istanbul. Naturally, we merged the tables. γεια μας :)

The night life of Thessaloniki is very vibrant like in Istanbul. If you come to Thessaloniki, you should prefer a Friday or Saturday night.

        

       

       

        

       

        

One important thing to know about Thessaloniki is that you have to find a secure place for your motorcycles there.

And the final route to Istanbul. The worst part of the tour. The daily life will start soon :(

        

The highway was in great condition until Alexandrapolis. After seeing the Turkey kilometer sign, the dips in the road has suddenly started. It was obvious that they have not repaired the road consciously. 

I think we got used to the silky roads very rapidly. After crossing the border, we have seen that the even the roads at the Greek border were well maintained in comparison to the Turkish roads. The road at the Turkish side were really bad. ü

We have seen the sign (below) and realised that we are in Turkey. It was like a joke. 

Welcome to the Jungle 

Anyway, we have finalised our tour in 18 days and we achieved 4751 km. The best part of the tour was for me Como - Switzerland and Alsace. I think, I will make a similar tour in the future.

The x-city's performance on the roads was also admirable.

And last but not leasti the most important aspect of the trip was the endurance of my wife.

 I was so lucky to be able to finalise such a long trip with a pillion who had always a smiling face...
