Europe Tour with Yamaha X-City - Part4 - ASPROVALTA - METEORA

We had our breakfast and then we went to the beach. After the lunch, it was time to ride to Meteora.

It was a 300 kms route and mainly we had to ride on the highway.

The biggest challange of the Greek highways are the gas stations. You need to leave the highway if you need to tank. But they are not far away. Even if they cannot talk English fluently at the gas stations, the people are very friendly and helpful.

We reached to Grevena and from Grevena we turned to Trikala. There were only 60 kms to reach to Meteora. The topography has started to change rapidly.

Getting closer to Meteora, we have faced with the mountains. We have chosen the village Kastraki for the accomodation and found a hotel at the very end of the village, called Pyrgos Adrachti.  It was superb.

The scene from the balconies of the hotel was incredible.

It was getting dark. We walked to the village and found a taverna for dinner. They have informed us that the meat can be a bit hard because of the characteristic of the local animals. No problem.  We were ready to try it. Iglem, the wife of Mert, hasn't shared her Greek salad with us as always. :) So, we ordered one for Iglem and one for us. The steaks were enormous and very delicious. We were really satisfied with the food and hospitality. The price we have paid for the great dinner was 60 EUR for 4 persons. You pay the same price for such a dinner in Istanbul for 2 persons.

The mountains were looking great as we woke up. After a short promenade in the early morning, we had our breakfast. The hotel has given us the map of the mountains. We studied it and started our tour.

We visited only some of the monastries because of our limited time. Riding on the mountain ways was really fun.

We have been informed that the ladies should wear skirts in order to enter to the monastries. You should keep this in mind. Meteora is a place everyone has to see once in a lifetime.

After the lunch, we started to ride to Igoumenitsa. The ferry to Ancona was at 22:30 and we shouldn't miss it.
