As soon as we have packed everyting, we started to ride.
In order to use the Swiss highways, we had to buy the stickers (vignette) and mount it on the scooters. You can buy it at every gas station. The vignettes are valid for one year. You can not find other shorter versions. After leaving Como, you reach to the Swiss borders in 10-15 mins. After passing through the border gate, you are at Switzerland.
We have decided to pass through St. Gotthard Tunnel, becuase I was not sure if my 250 cc. scooter coud achieve to climb to the Alps. St. Gotthard Tunnel is binding the Italian Canton to the German Canton and it is 16 km. long. The max speed is 80 km/h and they are very strict with the rules.
It takes 13 minutes to pass through the tunnel and the temperatures start from 24-25 degrees celcius (August) and reach to 34-35 degrees celcius in the middle of the tunnel. So, take time to get your extra clothes of before you enter the tunnel.
Alsace is very famous with its wines and the Alsacian wine route. We have chosen the village Riquewihr to stay. More Info about Riquewihr
After visiting Colmar City shortly, we made our way to the hotel at Riquewihr and jumped directly to the swimming pool to relax. After the pool, it was a must to visit the city center.
The village can be very crowded in the evenings. If you wake up early, go to the village and see it as no one is on the streets.
